#96Footballs

July 2014

The #96Footballs Photographic Project will be launching in July 2014 with a very special exhibition. I started this back in Feb 2013 with #HASP (Hillsborough Arts Sports Project) that has formed into #96 Footballs.

This being the 25th Anniversary year, 96 makes reference to the people that lost their lives as a result of the events that transpired on 15th April 1989.

96 is a number that will never be forgotten on Merseyside. The project will build upon the links the artist has from having lived in both cities: in the Anfield area of Liverpool and the Hillsborough area of Sheffield, whilst being an LFC supporter with a love of art and sport. It will link the two cities of Liverpool and Sheffield once again, but this time with a fresh sense of perspective, hope and reflection. It aims to build bridges between both cities from a positive perspective given that the truth has come out and will continue to come out.

I have amassed over 600 images that will form part of the main exhibition. Further images will be placed online with an accompanying exhibition catalogue later in 2014. Special thanks to Rob Andrew Smith for helping me realise the project and to continue to make this all happen.

With thanks to Jan and Chris of The Caravan Gallery and their 'Liverpool Pride Of Place Project' in May 2013 as part of LOOK13 and to Amy and Claire McGlone whose father Alan McGlone died at Hillsborough for allowing me to photograph their children with 'The McGlone Grandchildren'

#96Footballs will be an ambitious project that aims to have social media facebook and twitter resulting in exhibitions starting in May 2014.

I am currently in talks with both Liverpool Cathedrals, Liverpool Independents Biennial and at Cupola Art Gallery, Hillsborough, Sheffield to make this all happen from July 2014 - Oct 2014 here in Liverpool.

I am currently in dialogue with Hillsborough Family Support Group, Hillsborough Justice Campaign, Liverpool Independents Biennial, Anfield Sports & Community Centre, Cupola Art Gallery – Sheffield and various other organisations.

I wish to express his sincere thanks to all for their help and assistance to date and for continuing to help to make this project a success and to be ready in time for  an exhibition as part of Liverpool Independents Biennial in July 2014.

#96Footballs continues to meet with Liverpool and Sheffield organisations to make this happen!

ALL IMAGES WILL BE SHOWN AS PART OF THE PROJECT
